Members of Board of Education Investigate Proposed High School Plan FAVOR IRA! Growth of Continuation Schools is Bringing New Problem to he Met by Board of Education and it is Possible that Special Building' is Needed There is a spirit of unrest among the members of the new board of education and it is not improbable that in the near future somo effort will be made to re-open the contract made for the building of the new high school by the former board Several of the members of the board have openly expressed themselves as being favor of further investigation of the matter before starting work on the construction Of the new building and some of the members have declared themselves in favor of the rebuilding of the present building The former board in a manner closed the doors of the new board to further investigation by making a contract with Architect Hahn for plans as suggested bv him aild the architect and his assistants are now busy making the drawings and specifications for the new building It is declared that the building as planned will especially meet the demands for a modern high school in the next few years Considerable attention is to be given to the manual arts and while the teaching of the classical courses will not be overlooked it is probable that the plans for the new building will emphasize the new movement in education along the lines of teaching the boys- and gir' with their ha 'ids as well as with their brains Some of the members of the school board seem to think that this idea should be curried out in Kenosha but the better way to take care of it would be to have a special building for use as a manual traiuing school and for' the use of the continuation schools which will become a fixture iu Kenosha as a result -of their success during the year just closing It has bceir suggested that in another year an entire building will be demanded for the continuation school alono and it 3s declared by the retail dealers to be the biggest step forward ever taken in Wisconsin The bill was ordered to engrossment by the assembly at ten Wednesday night after it had been the subject of a four hour dis- cussion on the floor of the assembly Assemblyman Charles Pfeafiig of this county voted in favor of the bill and both representatives from Racine county were on the side of the bill when it was ordered to engrossment The bill 'was bitterly opposed by the bfeWery!
